LIMBitless Challenge Stories: Kevin Falk, staff and participant
I first heard of LIMBitless from another wheelchair user, Michael, who I saw was participating in this neat event called the LIMBitless Challenge on Facebook, and was curious on how I could participate. I contacted LIMBitless online to sign up, and in the meantime another fellow wheelchair tennis player was getting interviewed by Matt from LIMBitless and wondered if I wanted to be involved. I said "Yes" and it was the beginning of my involvement with LIMBitless and the LIMBitless Challenge.
I have lived in Boise most of my life and had never hiked the trail to Table Rock. I thought - why not? So when KTVB wanted to get some demo video for the LIMBitless Challenge we talked and climbed half way up the hill.
Since that day, it’s been a fun-filled packed adventure being involved with this organization. My goal this year is to do the climb up once again but also make it back down if my prosthetic leg is properly adjusted. It will be 9 years this August since I lost my right leg above the knee in a motorcycle accident.
I had mentioned to Ron about what other possibilities that this climb has given me and one of them was to hike the mountain to Machu Picchu in Peru. Well, Ron said "Kevin let’s do it!" So, who knows Table Rock was a start to something bigger and grander for me!
